Los manipuladores de bidones Morse con piezas resistentes a las chispas destinados a su uso en zonas peligrosas adecuadas están fabricados con material resistente a las chispas para determinadas piezas, pero utilizando componentes de acero para la mayor parte de la estructura. Las piezas resistentes a las chispas están pensadas para reducir la posibilidad de chispas mecánicas como posible fuente de ignición.

NO sustituyen a la conexión a tierra ni a la unión para evitar descargas de electricidad estática.

Se utilizan metales como el Monel en las piezas de contacto, como el soporte del tambor y las argollas de elevación. Se utiliza cadena de acero inoxidable en lugar de cadena de acero aleado al carbono para asegurar el tambor. En los modelos con cadenas de tracción para el control de inclinación del tambor, la cadena de acero se sustituye por una cadena de latón.
