The capacity of drum equipment for tilting a drum is reduced for a partially full drum due to the unbalanced and shifting load. A half-full drum is harder to tilt, and places more stress on the gearing and other components. The half-full rating of a drum handler indicates the capacity for tilting an unbalanced, bottom-heavy drum.

To release drum grip, hold down the RED safety button and press the grip "OPEN" button on the wired pendant. The grippers will NOT open by pressing only the grip "OPEN" button. The remote control also requires you to press both "OPEN" buttons at the same time.
Yes, the 290f can accept an optional grip pad kit attachment allowing it to handle plastic and fibre drums. The lids need to be on and secured.
You can order the grip pad kit as option 6978i-p to have it installed on a new 290f or kit p/n 6978-p for field install on an existing 290f.

Our drum adapters allow our standard Morse drum handling equipment to also handle pails, buckets, drums or barrels down to a diameter of 14 inches. We also offer a range of models specifically designed for 5-gallon pails that suit a diameter range of 11 to 15 inches.
