Morse flexible drum band heaters provide a simple, effective and reliable way to heat the contents of a steel, plastic or fiber drum.

Morse drum heaters conduct heat through the drum sidewall to product inside with a 4" (10.2 cm) wide flexible heater band. The band is made of tough, long lasting, fiberglass reinforced silicone rubber. They are easy to keep clean, as few chemicals will stick to silicone rubber.

Band Heaters for a Metal DrumIMPORTANT: Ensure drum heater is properly positioned completely BELOW fluid content level inside drum. Failure to do so can irreparably damage the drum heater.

Typical applications for electric drum / pail heaters include: chemicals, oils, greases, fats, molasses, adhesives, plastics, mastics, resins, syrups, and a variety of liquid food products; maintain liquid temperatures in water purification systems; raise and maintain temperature during biodiesel production; maintain liquid resin at optimum temperature; maintain viscosity of chemical binder in sand casting mold operation.

115V drum band heaters are equipped with six-foot cord and plug. 230V drum band heaters have a six-foot cord... customer supplies the plug. A built-in metal screen is grounded electrically for safety.

Drum band heaters for metal drums can operate at higher temperatures and, therefore, work faster. Heaters for a plastic or fiber drum have lower temperature range.

Adjust thermostat to automatically maintain correct temperature. Thermostat allows you to raise the temperature of product in drum, then maintain that temperature +/-10 degrees F.
  • Heaters for a 55-gallon (210 liter) metal drum heat with a 1500 watt band. Adjust thermostat from 50o to 425o F (10o to 218o C).
  • Heaters for a 55-gallon (210 liter) plastic or fiber drum heat with a 300 watt band. Adjust thermostat from 50o to 160o F (10o to 71o C).
Select the correct size drum heater for each drum
  • 55-gallon (210 liter) drum heaters
  • 30-gallon (114 liter) drum heaters
  • 15-gallon (57 liter) drum heaters
  • 5-Gallon (19 liter) pail heaters
To attach to your drum, simply wrap heater around drum and attach the spring and hook. The pliable heater conforms to drum sidewall and assures thorough band contact for effective heat transfer through the drum wall to material inside. The flexibility attains better heat transfer than rigid metal band heaters. Two drum heaters may be used for faster warming.

Use a Morse Electric Drum Heater to:
  • Heat drum contents to required temperature
  • Melt or preheat process ingredients
  • Control viscosity for handling processes
  • Protect against freezing
  • Speed flow of liquids
  • Promote dissolution and reduce residue
  • Reduce residue in drum
  • Speed chemical action

  • CAUTION: Morse drum heaters and pail heaters are NOT for use with "flammables"
  • Do NOT use in explosion hazard areas
  • CAUTION: It is the user's responsibility to ensure drum heaters are in full contact with the drum completely BELOW level of liquid in container. Failure to do so can irreparably damage the drum heater.
  • Do NOT bend a drum heater sharply, as this may cause internal damage to the heating element
  • Open drum bung to allow for expansion of contents when heating
  • All applications require temperature monitoring for safety and accurate results while using drum heater
  • CAUTION: Do NOT use Heater for Metal Drum on a plastic or fiber drum.

Heaters for a Metal Drum have 50o to 425oF (10 to 218 C) thermostat. CAUTION: Do NOT use on a Plastic or Fiber Drum
